หนังดราม่าที่สร้างจาก เรื่องจริงของ จอห์น คราวลี่ย์(เบรเดน เฟรเซอร์) ที่หน้าที่การงานกำลังรุ่ง แต่แล้วลูกสาวของเขาก็ป่วยด้วยโรคทางพันธุกรรม จอห์นทำทุกทางที่จะรักษาลูกของเขาให้หาย แต่นั่นต้องแลกกับหน้าที่การงานของเขาด้วย รวมถึง ไอลีน(เครี่ รัสเซล) ภรรยาของเขาที่เห็นด้วยและยืนเคียงข้างสามีอย่างเต็มที่ จนกระทั่งจอห์นได้พบกับ ดร. โรเบิร์ต สโตนฮิล(แฮร์ริสัน ฟอร์ด) ที่เชื่อว่าทฤษฎีของเขาน่าจะผลิตยารักษาโรคนี้ได้ ในขณะเดียวกันโรเบิร์ตก็ต้องพิสูจน์ทฤษฎีของเขากับทางบริษัทผลิตยาที่มี เงื่อนไขทางธุรกิจเข้ามาเกี่ยวข้อง จอห์น ไอลีน และ โรเบิร์ต จะทำอย่างไรกับเวลาที่เหลือจำกัดนี้
